About this event
Based on the 1983 movie directed by Bob Clark, written by Jean Shepherd, Leigh Brown and Bob Clark,
and based on Shepherd’s 1966 book In God We Trust, All Others Pay Cash. As does the movie, the play
follows 9-year-old Ralphie Parker in his quest to get a genuine Red Ryder BB gun for Christmas. Ralphie
pleads his case before his mother, his teacher, and even Santa Claus himself. Written in 1986, the first
Equity production of A CHRISTMAS STORY was at Cleveland Play House in Cleveland, Ohio, on November
30, 2005.
