- ➤ KACU celebrated 40 years in public radio and launched a sustainability campaign to raise $500,000 after losing CPB funding; early matching funds (up to $150,000) mean every donation now goes twice as far for future operations in West Texas. KACU
- ➤ Houses for Healing partners with Abilene ISD to build ten homes that offer free lodging for families with loved ones in the hospital. Abilene ISD construction students are building the first home to learn real world skills (the program may later include additional districts). KTXS
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Heath Blassingame, revived multiple times after a severe heart attack in September, credited the Impella pump at Hendrick Health for easing his heart strain. During American Heart Month, the hospital expanded its outreach (15 outreaches in the Big Country) to deliver timely cardiac care to rural patients. KTXS
- ➤ The 22nd Annual Autism Extravaganza will take place on Feb. 24 at the Hunter Welcome Center (ACU) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The free event, provided by Region 14 Education Service Center, will offer workshops, resources and community building for educators, caregivers and families affected by autism.
