COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Local community leaders and the Abilene Housing Authority are working to ease the housing shortage intensified by incoming workers at the Stargate data center. A historic downtown building (Landmark on Cypress) will provide 49 affordable units this spring as officials explore more public and private housing solutions. KACU
- ➤ Volunteer fire departments in Taylor County will get 129 new air packs funded by a $1.4M FEMA grant from the Community Foundation of Abilene. Nine departments will share the equipment, which offers a longer 45-minute air supply to help crews work safely in hazardous conditions. KTXS
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Fuego Tortilla Grill filed a permit to occupy 3130 S. Clack and will start building its 4,440 sqft restaurant on March 30; the new spot plans to serve appetizers, tacos, bowls, and handmade tortillas and open by summer. KTXS

- ➤ Frontier Texas in Abilene showcases the lasting impact of settlers who built our state with courage and sacrifice. Executive Director Jeff Salmon (who has led the project for 22 years) explains that understanding history helps the community honor its past and plan for a strong future. KTXS

- ➤ The city has awarded a phase one contract to expand the Africa exhibit at Abilene Zoo, setting the stage for improvements that will enhance the zoo for visitors. Officials say further details on the project timeline will be released soon. FOX West Texas
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ West Texas Rehab Center broke ground today on an $87M expansion that will replace its 80,000 sqft building with a 133,000 sqft facility on Abilene's south side to meet rising outpatient care demand.
