Volunteer fire departments in Taylor County will get 129 new air packs funded by a $1.4M FEMA grant from the Community Foundation of Abilene.
Nine departments will share the equipment, which offers a longer 45-minute air supply to help crews work safely in hazardous conditions.

The city has awarded a phase one contract to expand the Africa exhibit at Abilene Zoo, setting the stage for improvements that will enhance the zoo for visitors.

West Texas Rehab Center broke ground today on an $87M expansion that will replace its 80,000 sqft building with a 133,000 sqft facility on Abilene's south side to meet rising outpatient care demand.
Center President Steve Martin said the project is designed to expand therapy areas (and allow for future growth).
