ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A Tye firefighter sustained minor injuries on Wednesday morning when a vehicle breached the barricade and struck him as crews fought an 18-wheeler fire on Interstate 20 West (mile marker 277), and the highway was closed until 9 a.m. for cleanup. Abilene Reporter News
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Richard Wood, a contractor accused of scamming local residents out of thousands for unfinished repair jobs, was arrested in Deschutes County, Oregon and will be extradited to Taylor County to face charges. KTXS
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Hendrick Health and the Laura W. Bush Institute for Women's Health will host an educational program next week Monday at the Hunter Welcome Center at Abilene Christian University from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. where Dr. Mary Claire Haver will teach women how to manage hormonal changes—tickets cost $25 per person or $400 for a table of eight. - ➤ Phlebotomy students at Holland Medical High School will host a stick night today (4 to 7 p.m.) at 2442 Cedar Street in Abilene to practice drawing blood. The new course, funded by a grant (received last year), is led by teacher Holley Davila. KTXS

- ➤ Veteran Sgt. Cipriano Delbosque received the Bronze Star medal last month for his service during Desert Storm and got an American flag on Tuesday from Congressman Jodey Arrington to honor his bravery — he has also worked as a barber in Abilene for 54 years. The awards recognize his three decades in the Army and his long-time commitment to our community. KTXS
- ➤ Today in Abilene, Congressman Jodey Arrington said Washington’s new budget resolution will boost border security, support military readiness, maintain tax cuts, and lower costs for local oil, gas and agriculture. He said the measures — aimed at strengthening the nation and ensuring a safe future — are expected to benefit West Texas. KTXS
