- ➤ The Abilene Zoo will break ground next week on its largest $27 million expansion that adds eight new exhibits, a café and an amphitheater to support breeding programs for lions & rhinos, funded by a previous bond vote and private donations. KTXS
- ➤ The Humane Society of North Texas has taken in about 40 dogs from the Caps property and said they could not take in four additional dogs due to capacity limits + the remaining dogs will be placed with foster families later this week. KTXS
- ➤ Residents along Corsicana Avenue petition the city to install speed bumps to address dangerous speeding on a 30 mph road (drivers reportedly reaching 50-60 mph) that endangers children near Scarborough Park; several incidents, including a hit-and-run and a deadly crash, have raised safety concerns.
