ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Local business owners stopped operations after an explosion destroyed their truck — they are asking for community support as they plan to resume services soon. FOX West Texas
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Crews have begun work on a new Chick-fil-A on Southwest Drive that will replace the one on South Clack Street—local residents expect less traffic and quicker service. The city plans a 40-year lease that will start at $125,000 a year and eventually yield about $7 million. KTXS
- ➤ Abilene hosted a 2025 business expo that drew over 200 exhibitors and 2,000 attendees to boost local economic growth. A networking event with a silent auction followed to offer local businesses more opportunities to connect. FOX West Texas
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A 20-year-old woman sustained a nonlife-threatening gunshot wound in the parking lot of an apartment complex on the 3300 block of Sherry Lane around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday and was taken to a hospital, and police are investigating the incident + witnesses reported multiple vehicles and persons were involved, though no charges have been filed. - ➤ Antonio Adrian Pena was booked into Taylor County Jail Tuesday on a $100,000 bond — he is charged with murder for allegedly giving fentanyl that led to Michael Henderson’s death — and an autopsy later confirmed meth and fentanyl toxicity. KTXS

- ➤ Abilene is preparing for 325 day (an event expected to boost the local economy). FOX West Texas
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ ACU's Occupational Therapy department will host a free handwriting day camp for kids ages 7 to 9 on June 12 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.—each camper is paired with an OT student and will receive lunch and a t-shirt. KTXS
- ➤ Region 14 Head Start program held Mental Health Wellness Day today to help prepare preschoolers from families with low incomes and children with special needs and their parents for kindergarten. Head Start teacher Esther Gallegos explained that parent training on positive discipline techniques—such as offering clear positive choices—will help kids manage their feelings and build social skills before starting school. - ➤ Officer Fidele Sebahizi has served on the APD for eight years after moving from a refugee camp in Central Africa seeking a better life in Abilene. He earned a PhD and wrote a book while his tough childhood and the ongoing persecution of his ethnic group drive his pursuit of justice and his plans to someday help rebuild his home village — where only a church remains.
