- ➤ The Salvation Army will host its annual Love Beyond luncheon on May 15 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mesquite St. event center in Abilene—tickets and sponsorships will support its community work. KTXS
- ➤ Cooper's BBQ launched its Tix 4 Trash promotion to support community clean-up efforts and offer live music for local guests—an initiative that brings neighbors together. FOX West Texas
- ➤ Vietnam War veterans and their families gathered at Goodfellow AFB to remember acts of service and honor the sacrifices made during the conflict. FOX West Texas
- ➤ Local animal control officials in Tye said they have seen an increase in abandoned pets during the summer months and warned that owners who abandon pets risk a $1000 fine + up to one year in jail. - ➤ Three kindergarten teachers at TLCA-Abilene Elementary were fired on Friday after an investigation found they allegedly used a disciplinary method in which a student was made to walk in a circle while classmates chanted a word (shameful) and the incident was reported to Child Protective Services.
