CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Abilene ISD's Morgan Jones Planetarium will host a double feature on Friday with Forward to the Moon and Mars: The Ultimate Voyage starting at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 and will be available in cash only beginning at 5 p.m. Friday. KTXS
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Abilene ISD recognized 92 teachers by awarding Teacher Incentive Allotment Designations for outstanding classroom performance, with awards ranging from $4,564 – $20,667 annually over a five-year period. The district will expand TIA eligibility in the 2025-26 school year to include additional subjects and schools. KTXS
- ➤ Hardin-Simmons University is expanding its speech camp for 75 to 100 elementary students with a $3,000 grant from Community Foundation of Abilene’s Future Fund—adding music therapy and therapeutic riding to help children access summer therapy. KTXS
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ TxDOT has started resurfacing work on US Highway 180 in Snyder near East Highway 84— the work will move west toward the courthouse and cause brief parking delays downtown. The project will finish by the end of April— drivers are urged to use caution in the work zones. KTXS
LIFESTYLE NEWS
- ➤ Kerri Pomarolli will perform her faith-filled comedy at Call Her Blessed on April 14th at 6:30 p.m. at 201 Mesquite Event Center in Abilene. A luncheon hosted by Christian Homes and Family Services will start at 11:30 a.m. on the same day. KTXS
