- ➤ The City of Abilene is holding Cemetery Cleanup Days from April 7—11 and asking residents to help clear items that do not meet cemetery policies. Unapproved items will be removed after April 11. KTXS

- ➤ Emergency officials in Abilene warned that severe weather season could lead to increased wildfire risks if continued rains do not keep spring grasses from drying out later — areas with new hillside housing and unmaintained rural land may be especially at risk. KTXS

- ➤ Abilene residents will receive a mock tornado warning as part of the City-Wide Tornado Drill on April 9 at 10 a.m. — the alert will be sent through the CodeRED app. KTXS

- ➤ Abilene local Corey Patterson had quadruple bypass surgery after a minor chest cramp during a walk in October and a failed stress test in December revealed serious heart disease that led to surgery just before Christmas. Three and a half months into his recovery, he attends cardiac rehab at Hendrick Medical Center—where specialist Joe Traweek says early detection is key to preventing further heart problems. KACU
