- ➤ Region 14 Head Start hosted Healthy Minds, Happy Families for students and families with STEM projects, crafts, dance, and games at Merkel Elementary on Thursday, Apr. 9. Organizers said the event supported early learning and mental health (a focus for future gatherings) and helped boost parent-child bonds. KTXS
- ➤ KTXS volunteered with Rescue the Animals during Sinclair Broadcast Group's day of giving, where staff and volunteers cleaned kennels and cared for dogs and cats that are awaiting new homes. Their hands-on work helped lighten the load at a shelter with limited staff. KTXS
- ➤ Your One Choice will host its first fundraiser on Friday at Big Country Hall (Taylor County Expo Center) with a barbecue dinner, silent auction and guest speakers to raise funds for travel expenses and an enclosed trailer to promote awareness of impaired driving dangers. The event opens at 6 p.m. KTXS

- ➤ Lancium said the fully-financed Stargate AI data center in northwest Abilene has long-term tenants Oracle for 15 years and Microsoft for 20, with construction underway to support the local grid and reduce noise. The facility is designed to use excess energy while featuring natural-gas backup for reliability. KTXS
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ This past weekend, about 100,000 gallons of wastewater spilled into Buck Creek from a sewer transmission line rupture near East Lake Road and Neas Road. Cleanup crews are working to disinfect the area and residents using private wells are urged to boil water (the city's drinking water system remains unaffected). KTXS
