Abilene Christian University sophomores Eric Vergane and Haylee Newman were awarded $40,000 scholarships from The Sumners Foundation—one of 36 nationwide chosen for academic excellence and public service.
The funds will support their junior and senior years.

On Thursday, the Abilene City Council met to discuss a proposed $27M bond to buy backup generators for water treatment facilities—plans spurred by the 2021 power crisis—and approved street closures near a medical center, adjustments to school zones, and a downtown parking program with ParkMobile.
