The Perkins family—Zach, Kylie and their son Beau—were named Military Family of the Year at Saturday’s 60th annual World's Largest Barbecue held at the Abilene Convention Center by the Abilene Chamber of Commerce’s Military Affairs Committee.

Zach, a technical sergeant and C-130 loadmaster instructor, led tactical planning for his unit in the Middle East while deployed in South Carolina for the last six months.

East Texas native country singer Kolby Cooper will perform on May 3 at 7 p.m.—part of his tour named after his new album Love You, Goodnight at Potosi Live in Abilene.
