- ➤ United Family stores donated 3,240 pounds of apples to Concho Valley Regional Food Bank through its Take a Bite Out of Hunger campaign, continuing an annual effort to support local food resources. FOX West Texas
- ➤ After years of renovation that began with demolitions in early 2024, GV Daniels and Sears Recreation Centers reopened yesterday with ribbon-cutting ceremonies held at 1:30 p.m. at GV Daniels (532 W. Washington St.) and 2:15 p.m. at Sears (2250 Ambler Ave.). KTXS
- ➤ Promise Room offers free prom attire to Big Country high school students facing financial hardship. The community initiative provides dresses and tuxes to help students celebrate prom without added cost. KTXS

- ➤ The Capital One 'Chuck' blimp landed at Abilene Regional Airport when low clouds forced a stop after covering the women’s final four in Arizona. It will resume its flight to Tennessee once conditions clear+. KTXS

- ➤ Mekenzie Davis of Kulture Original, whose colorful store in the Mall promotes unity and faith, will host the annual Kulture Con (Aug. 1 at the Abilene Convention Center) featuring vendors, live entertainment and giveaways. Abilene Reporter News
- ➤ Ranger College hosts The Wall That Heals, a traveling Vietnam memorial featuring a three-quarter-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial and an education center. The exhibit runs today through April 26 at 1100 College Circle in Ranger — volunteers will guide a law enforcement and motorcycle procession at the opening. KTXS

- ➤ Residents can shop tax-free for emergency supplies from Saturday, Apr. 25 until Monday, Apr. 27. State officials say qualifying items including portable generators (under $3,000), emergency ladders and first aid kits are available with no purchase limit. KTXS

- ➤ The Access to Breast Health for Texans program now offers free Bexa breast exams to people 18 and older in West Texas rural areas today at community centers (churches, boutiques) instead of intimidating hospitals. It will expand to Midland-Odessa by July while providing quick results, including same-appointment ultrasounds if needed. KACU
