- ➤ The West Texas Tribune marks 21 years this May and is joining Abilene Gives to raise $5,000 for its young scholars program; a fundraiser will be held next Tuesday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. at First Financial Bank (3300 S 14th St) for newspaper and coffee. KTXS
- ➤ Colt Baker Foundation, created after 5-year-old Colt Baker passed in 2024, helps families grieving child loss by hosting support groups and will hold its first Walk of Remembrance this Sunday at 2 p.m. at Abilene Christian University to honor Bereaved Mother's Day. KTXS
- ➤ Abilene community members paid tribute to APD Officer Rodney Holder, who died in 2010 when a car struck his motorcycle during patrol after 28 years of dedicated service in roles including patrol, SWAT, and traffic division. KTXS
- ➤ Nine-year-old Jaxson Hill, who battles congenital heart disease, received a special wish at a community celebration at Hanner Chevrolet in Baird + he will soon enjoy a trip to Disney World in Florida with his family. KTXS

- ➤ Hook & Reel Cajun Restaurant filed paperwork with the state to remodel a 4,700 sqft space next to Walmart on Highway 351. The $250,000 renovation project will be completed around Feb. 2027. KTXS
