CRIME NEWS
- ➤ An Abilene woman, Keighvoucia Lamb, was arrested Tuesday, April 29 in a South Abilene neighborhood on charges of aggravated assault and false report to police—she faces three counts of aggravated assault and one count of false report with a $272,000 bond—her brother Ivonyai Lamb remains at large. KTXS
- ➤ Tye police filed a second-degree felony aggravated assault charge against 20-year-old Nathan Newlin after he hit a firefighter with his car in March while driving past a barricade on I-20 during a car fire response, and he also faces charges for minor in possession, drug possession, failure to yield, disregarding a traffic device, and disregarding a police officer. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Abilene ISD will honor more than 50 top senior students at three ceremonies held at Academy of Technology, Engineering, Math, and Science, Abilene High School, and Cooper High School. The ceremonies will take place on May 23 and May 24 — with Cooper High on May 23 at 8 p.m. and the events at ATEMS and Abilene High on May 24 at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. KTXS

- ➤ Heavy rainfall raised water levels in local lakes by Wednesday evening; Lake Stamford rose 6/10 of a foot to become full—above its conservation pool—while Lakes Brownwood and Coleman remain above their pools and western lakes stay much lower. KTXS

- ➤ Hendrick Health will host a free Wellness Fair on May 3 at the Mall of Abilene from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to celebrate its 100th anniversary—attendees will see live demos like the da Vinci robotic-assisted surgical system and hear presentations on topics including digestive health, bladder care, cancer prevention, and bone and joint health.
