- ➤ The Fieldhouse Abilene is building a new facility at Maple Street and South 27th Street near D-Bat and Abilene State School. It will feature pickleball courts, a basketball court, and indoor and outdoor football fields plus traditional fitness equipment and recovery machines, with construction expected to finish in 2027. - ➤ The Christian Service Center is hosting an Abilene Gives fundraiser on Tuesday (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.) at 3185 N 10th St to raise $40,000 for rental and dental assistance programs that help local families. KTXS
- ➤ The Food Bank of West Central Texas opened an expanded facility during a ribbon-cutting on Wednesday, adding a drive-thru mobile pantry and community space that will boost food access across 17 counties (including targeted distributions for older residents in Taylor County). - ➤ Abilene ISD honored its top seniors (Class of 2026) on Wednesday at Abilene High, Cooper High and ATEMS ahead of graduation ceremonies on May 22 and May 23. Principals recognized the best students based on grade point average. KTXS
- ➤ Workforce Solutions of West Central Texas hosted a networking event to honor nearly 70 student interns from area schools as they celebrated completed internships — forging connections with industry and education partners for future postsecondary training. KTXS

- ➤ The Abilene-Taylor County Public Health District warned residents that live backyard poultry may carry salmonella bacteria even if healthy and advised children under 5 to avoid close contact, urging proper handwashing after handling birds (or items they touched). KTXS
