- ➤ The City of Abilene will host its 10th annual Cinco de Mayo parade on May 5—lineup starts at 5:30 p.m. and the parade begins at 6 p.m. while offering food trucks, vendors, music, and dancing to celebrate local community tradition. KTXS

- ➤ Abilene police indicted Antonio Pena on a murder charge after he allegedly gave fentanyl to Michael Henderson, who died from toxicity caused by meth and fentanyl as an autopsy confirmed. KTXS
- ➤ An Abilene man is indicted for causing a motorcycle race crash on Pine Street last year that left Braydon Shockley dead—police said the crash occurred when the accused lost control and hit a street sign. KTXS

- ➤ Abilene Gives on May 6 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. will support the National Center for Children’s Illustrated Literature as it funds free Family Fun Saturdays and weekly school tours for local classrooms. Rainfall at the Abilene Region Airport totaled 5.98 inches — more than 4 inches above normal — making it the 8th wettest April on record and pushing the year’s total 1 and 1/2 inches above normal while the average temperature ranked as the 23rd warmest.
