- ➤ After several dogs contracted canine pneumovirus, PARC closed its dog intake for two weeks to help halt the spread of kennel cough (emergency cases will still be accepted and affected dogs are receiving treatment). KTXS
- ➤ Abilene United Supermarkets and Market Street are donating 4,800 pounds of apples to the Food Bank of West Central Texas this week using the Take a Bite Out of Hunger program—helping feed underserved communities. United stores in Texas and New Mexico will donate over 50,000 pounds of apples through the initiative. KTXS
- ➤ Nearly 200 local nonprofits are taking part in Abilene Gives 2025, a 12-hour online event hosted by the Community Foundation of Abilene to raise money and awareness. The event runs today from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and includes contests to help nonprofits earn extra funding. KTXS

- ➤ A 70-year-old man from California died when his Nissan Kicks left the road and hit a tree on I-20 near mile marker 292 in Abilene around 10:50 a.m. Sunday—police are investigating the fiery crash after witnesses and fire crews attempted to save him. KTXS

- ➤ One year ago, a drunk driver struck a Kia Spectra on FM 18 in Baird, killing 18-year-olds Layni Potter and Madison Buchanan and 16-year-old Ryan Bilby—she was speeding at 100 mph while intoxicated and faces charges for Intoxication Manslaughter. KTXS
