The nonprofit expanded its Abilene facility last month with a $4.5 million project that added a mural, a drive-through service, and community spaces at 5505 N.

First St. Beginning this Saturday, the food bank will host food distribution (9 to 10:30 a.m.) and plans to make it a monthly event.

The 10th and final Abilene Gives event is hosted by the Community Foundation of Abilene today from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., featuring a morning celebration, a midday surprise, and a closing ceremony at various local venues (including fundraisers and community activities).

Abilene residents can vote on the best spot for spicy food from entries like Winchester Pub & Grill, Tokyo Asian Fusion, Krua Thai and JoYspot — Hotpot & Grill; the poll will close at midnight on Thursday.
