EDUCATION NEWS

  • Spark Science Center — housed in the former Lincoln Middle School gym — now offers over 75 interactive STEAM exhibits including earthquake simulators and life-size dinosaurs. It opened Saturday and operates Tuesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for families to explore.  KTXS
  • Hardin-Simmons nursing program earned national accreditation from CCNE, confirming its high-quality curriculum — officials say the recognition boosts opportunities for students.  FOX West Texas

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Taylor County Sheriff Ricky Bishop recalled that four years ago the Mesquite Heat Fires burned over 10,000 acres, destroyed 27 structures and forced evacuations along Highway 277 South, although there were no injuries. He advised residents to check weather forecasts even for days after controlled burns to reduce fire risk.  KTXS
