- ➤ Abilene nonprofit Global Samaritan Resources received a $7,500 donation from Atmos Energy to support its Community Book Room that offers free books to local readers. The book room will open every Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon from today until August 6 and the nonprofit shared that it circulated nearly 35,000 books last year and 6,091 so far this year – highlighting its continued role in community literacy. - ➤ Chris England, known as Doc, said Play Faire Park is not closing or being sold despite recent rumors, and he has no plans to retire after 31 years of ownership. He added that the park will host Beatle Fest on the 13th & 14th next weekend and remain open every day this summer. KTXS
