  • United Supermarkets said its Abilene store at 2160 Pine St. will close on July 19—this move comes as the company reviews its store operations and will support team members while directing guests to nearby locations.  KTXS

CRIME NEWS

  • Abilene police arrested 44-year-old Anthony Rangel Ortega on May 27 for a north Abilene shooting—officers found stolen items from local construction sites in his home as detectives search for additional victims.  KTXS
  • The Neves family is still searching for 25-year-old Jeremy Neves, who was last seen leaving Guitars and Cadillac's bar on April 3 at 11 p.m.—his cousin Shawn Murphy said search parties and a $4,000 reward are part of efforts to find him while his mom, who depends on him, remains deeply worried.  KTXS

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Abilene fire station project is on-schedule, the department said. Officials will update the public as work continues — the work is moving along as planned.  FOX West Texas
  • Speed limit signs were installed on Schwartz Road after the Commissioners' Court unanimously approved a proposed decrease in speed limits — the new signs now enforce lower limits for drivers.  FOX West Texas
  • Dyess Air Force Base hosted a reunion with the B-1 Bomber Association on Friday to celebrate 40 years of B-1 operations. Past and present aircrew and maintainers attended a weapons loading demonstration and viewed static displays — marking the bomber's legacy.  KTXS
