Hospice of the Big Country hosted a butterfly release in Abilene that brought community members together in a peaceful, uplifting afternoon to honor loved ones lost.

Bereavement coordinator Phillip Balir said the event offered comfort and hope in the grieving process—helping residents find healing.

Miguel Espinoza won the Abilene City Council Place 5 runoff election by securing 58 percent of the vote against Kyle McAlister — early voting was held from May 27 through June 3.
