- ➤ Next weekend, Friends of the Library will hold its annual book sale at Abilene Convention Center from June 19 to 22 to raise funds for the library’s summer reading programs. The event starts with a membership-only sale on Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m.—Friday through Sunday are open to all, including a Bag-O-Books sale on Sunday. KTXS
- ➤ The Abilene Black Chamber of Commerce will host the Juneteenth Health & Business Expo tomorrow at the Abilene Convention Center with a breakfast and presentation at 8 a.m. followed by expo hours from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. — local businesses and community leaders will gain a chance to connect with health resources and celebrate empowerment. - ➤ Abilene Police arrested 32-year-old Jacob Arriaga, who is accused of robbing four convenience stores in Abilene and Clyde — he also faces a suspended license charge and was found with two firearms believed to be used during the robberies. KTXS

- ➤ The Children's Art and Literacy Festival kicked off in downtown Abilene on Thursday with Matt Phelan's art exhibit opening at the National Center for Children's Illustrated Literature and a costume contest held at the DoubleTree by Hilton—events continue at 17 downtown venues through Sunday.
