All Kind Animal Initiative in Abilene closed its stray intake after recent storms increased stray pets, with staff reporting over 80 dogs and many cats and urgently seeking foster homes and help reuniting pets with their families— it will reopen stray intake on Monday and plans to send some animals on rescue flights to find new homes.

Abilene held its annual Children’s Art and Literacy Festival where families and kids enjoyed petting animals and creative art activities while celebrating the city’s storybook heritage.
