The Food Bank of West Central Texas is fighting hunger in Taylor County as 1 in 6 residents struggles to secure their next meal.

It now supports 90,000 neighbors across 13 counties through produce, dry goods, and help from Feeding America (donations and volunteer efforts are welcome).

Abilene’s weekend offers three events — live theater’s 'The Sound of Music' at Paramount Theater from Friday to Sunday, live music by Justin Pickard and the Thunderbird Winos at Big Country Beer Garden on Saturday, and a free reenactment of an 1884 shootout at 625 N.

Google is investing $3.6 million at TSTC to establish a new MEI Data Center Academy in Abilene that will prepare students for skilled data center jobs.

Full classes are set to begin in 2027 & the funds will upgrade training labs, add scholarships, and expand the program to additional campuses.
