The Christian Service Center has raised its rental assistance from $700 to $1,500 as rising rents are straining residents.

At the 7th Annual Hearts BBQ Backpack Giveaway outside the Drug Emporium, organizers said volunteers completed backpack stuffing on July 18 and will need support on July 28 — 30 and Aug.
