  • Several community organizations in the Big Country will host free back-to-school drives on August 1, 2 and 9 to help ease families' costs as schools reopen.   • Residents clashed with Rep. Pfluger at a town hall where they asked questions on immigration, healthcare — and flood response policies. The debate showed growing local concern over these issues.  FOX West Texas
  • Traffic lights at South 14th and Clack St. have been out for weeks after a car crash destroyed the control box and repair crews faced setbacks with delayed materials and two contractor deaths. TxDOT—partnering with the city and AEP—expects repairs to finish by August 8 to ease back-to-school traffic.  KTXS
