CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A 29-year-old man from Brady was seriously injured after he fled Texas Department of Public Safety officers on Highway 83 in Tuscola around 6 a.m. Tuesday — his white pickup truck lost control on a curved road, crashed, and he now faces multiple felony charges. KTXS
- ➤ Abilene police detained Cody Wray Isenberg on Monday after he fled a business robbery and later entered a bank on South 14th Street to demand money—he was charged with second degree felony robbery while investigators are checking if the case links to an August 11 robbery involving a man in a Star Wars helmet. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Former Associate Municipal Judge Chaile Allen resigned effective immediately—citing ethical concerns after a police raid that denied CBD House of Healing its right to an attorney—and said she will continue serving her clients while urging better police communication. KTXS
- ➤ Texas game wardens are getting ready for dove season starting Sept. 1 as 400,000 hunters plan to follow strict rules—hunters must have the proper license, migratory game bird stamp, and hunter ed if born on or after Sept. 2. Warden James Cummings said that compliance checks will be made to ensure hunters adhere to daily bag limits and safety rules. KTXS
- ➤ Eddie Pugh announced his candidacy for Texas House District 71 on social media—promising to fight corruption, demand judicial reform, and uphold government transparency to serve the community. His run comes as Rep. Stan Lambert said he will not seek reelection when his term ends. KTXS
- ➤ Chaile Allen resigned from her position as Associate Municipal Judge after her client, CBD House of Healing, was raided on August 23 — she said the Abilene police disregarded her client's rights and ignored her attempts to reach police leadership. KTXS
- ➤ Taylor County Commissioners Court approved a 5.68% tax rate increase Tuesday morning to fund a nearly $120 million budget for the next fiscal year. Taxpayers will pay an extra $30 per $100,000 of property value to cover rising costs in services—especially for the sheriff’s department and payroll. KTXS
