CRIME NEWS

  • Attorney Chaile Allen said the Abilene Police raided CBD House of Healing last weekend and found over 17 pounds of marijuana along with pre-rolled cigarettes and THC products — her client was denied access to an attorney during a search that lasted from 11:30 a.m. to 5:00, even though a city ordinance issue had been resolved in 2024.  KTXS
  • Abilene police seized over 17 pounds of marijuana, numerous THC products and $1176.52 in cash during a raid at the CBD House of Healing over the weekend—no arrests were made as the investigation continues.  KTXS
  • Abilene police are seeking tips about a suspect linked to a riding lawnmower theft from a business on the 1000 block of Ben Richey Drive—photos show an older man with silver hair near a white 6x6 pickup with yellow lights and a trailer.  FOX West Texas

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Campus police at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene stress the need for prep over panic after active-shooter hoaxes have been reported on other campuses. Chief Stringer said the team is trained for emergencies—using alert systems and emergency kits to keep everyone safe.  KTXS

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Senator John Cornyn toured Abilene’s Stargate Data Center on Tuesday morning+ met with LIFT high school students learning tech skills for future jobs. He said the visit shows the city’s rising tech growth as developers plan energy projects to support the center+ efforts to boost local workforce skills.  KACU
  • Today, Abilene city council will review revised BYOB regulations after recent shootings at a downtown hookah lounge to boost safety. Rochelle Johnson said the changes exempt some venues—like the Taylor County Expo Center—and require establishments to close from 2 a.m. to 7 a.m.  KTXS
