Abilene Christian University hosted its inaugural open chess tournament last Saturday at Bennett Gymnasium starting at 9:30 a.m. and running four rounds with a Swiss-system format until about 4 p.m., where players of all ages competed against similarly skilled opponents.

Texas Game Warden James Cummings urged hunters to review regulations and avoid risks such as cars in tall grass, fires, and property boundaries ahead of dove season beginning Sept.
