The Abilene Environmental Health Division conducted inspections Aug.
24-28 and issued ratings from perfect to 79 for restaurants and food outlets; several, including Best Western Abilene Inn & Suites and Spicy India, faced violations (improper temperature control and contamination risks).
An Abilene mother who lost her 25-year-old son to fentanyl poisoning will advocate for stronger drug prevention and recovery support on Capitol Hill Sept.
25-26. She plans to meet with policymakers in Washington + ask for increased resources for education and emergency care.

ACU football will host Stephen F.
Austin for its home opener Saturday. After a loss to Texas Tech and last season’s exit, coach Keith Patterson said the Wildcats are focused on a fresh process and a strong start.
ACU coach Keith Patterson said the team adjusted to Texas Tech’s fast game Monday while new players got used to their roles (80 of 96 are in their first or second year).
The Wildcats will host Stephen F. Austin in their home opener Saturday.
