- ➤ Last week, the House approved $50 million to cover fuel for Abilene Christian University’s NEXT Lab nuclear project—Congressman Jodey Arrington proposed the amendment after the Department of Energy gave conditional approval for research nuclear reactors. KACU
- ➤ Abilene City Council approved a $1.252M purchase of network switching and security equipment after a cyberattack disrupted services five months ago—this long-term gear will be funded by minor improvement project funds with most replacements done by Oct. 1 and full updates by year’s end. KTXS
- ➤ Dyess airmen held a memorial ruck on Thursday morning to honor 9/11 heroes and to remember the sacrifice of firefighters and first responders—participants carried heavy gear as they retraced the steps of that tragic day. The event built team spirit and kept alive the memory of those who died. KTXS
- ➤ The City of Abilene proposes a phased fare increase for City Link buses after the Department of Transportation presented the plan on September 9. If approved on October 23, the first changes will begin on November 3 — monthly passes will rise from $45 to $53 and later to $61 while the adult weekly pass is eliminated. KTXS
