At Thursday's Abilene City Council meeting, city leaders approved a purchase of a little over $1 million to enhance cybersecurity — bringing the total spent to about $3 million.
Cybersecurity expert Sai Huda said the new equipment will help remove backdoors from past attacks and urged residents and officials to update passwords and activate multifactor authentication — measures that will check future vulnerabilities.
