  • Emergency Medical Technicians in Rising Star received new protective gear funded by a five thousand dollars grant and an anonymous donation—this equipment is specially measured for women to help protect against hazards during emergencies and will last about 10 years to boost responder confidence.  KTXS

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Maxwell Municipal Golf Course in Abilene is up for sale; the city posted a $1.3 million bid that requires local school district teams to practice there & interested bidders may view the property this Thursday from 10-11 a.m.  KTXS

HEALTH NEWS

  • Rachel Beasley—a Wylie Special Education Teacher—saved her husband's life when he fell into a mirror at their shop and cut his arm by using her 'Stop the Bleed' training and wrapping a dog leash as a tourniquet until paramedics arrived and he went into surgery.  KTXS
  • A local family turned its grief over Zachary's suicide into a mission of hope by planning the Out of the Darkness Walk next month to boost mental health awareness in Abilene — Hailey Shirley said she remembers her brother as kind and caring.  KTXS
