- ➤ Abilene’s Round-Up For Rehab auction has long supported the West Texas Rehabilitation Center by raising between $60,000 and $85,000 through cattle donations from the local agricultural community. General manager Henry Pickett said the event will grow over the next ten years—building stronger support for patients in recovery. KTXS
- ➤ Maxwell Municipal Golf Course—built in 1934—is up for sale as the city places a $1.3 million bid that requires the course remain open for public play and school team practice. Local golfers, including Bob Pase and Tod Lawrence, expressed concern over affordability and noted interested bidders will view the course on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. KTXS

- ➤ Dandy Auto Detail in Abilene is commissioning a mural to honor Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska (killed on a train in North Carolina earlier this year). Muralist Alice Steele said she will finish the artwork by Friday to inspire community kindness. KTXS
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Abilene ISD is holding community meetings on the Voter-Approval Tax Rate Election that, if approved, will bring an additional $10 million in local funds and lower school taxes. A meeting is held today at Alcorta Elementary from 4:45 to 5:45 p.m. — more sessions will follow through October. KTXS
- ➤ Abilene ISD Superintendent Dr. John Kuhn defended his teachers on Facebook on Friday after a post accused them of grooming children by assigning a controversial book—he vowed to protect them even if it costs him his job. Kuhn said his strong response is meant to counter baseless online attacks and address concerns about age-appropriate reading for students. KTXS
- ➤ The Big Country Chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes will host its Fields of Faith event on October 8 at ACU's Wildcat Stadium—gates open at 6 p.m. and the free event is open to middle school, high school, and college students. KTXS
