- ➤ The Christian Service Center will host its 5th Annual 'Be a Good Neighbor' event on Sept. 25 to help people connect with needed services in the local community. Volunteer Marlin Mann, who first inspired the event, said it aims to match struggling residents with the right support—reinforcing the spirit of neighborly assistance. KTXS

- ➤ The Abilene Pride Alliance will host its fourth annual 'Rainbow Revolution' parade and festival on Saturday in downtown Abilene—where the parade starts at noon at South 2 and Oak St. Organizers will include vendors, live music, family activities, drag shows, and increased security measures to keep the event safe. - ➤ D&W Underground in Abilene is a restored building—once a car dealership—that now shines with over 100 hand-picked neon signs, showing a piece of local history. Owner Robert Hoemke said he will start restoring Andrew Furniture Warehouse next month as he continues his work reviving old landmarks. KTXS

- ➤ An Abilene parent challenged Abilene ISD Superintendent Dr. John Kuhn’s Facebook remarks that urged people to stop demonizing teachers, saying his comment did not fully address a recent homework controversy. Carson Rynders explained that his daughter received a passage with vulgar language—lacking context—and that after a call with the teacher he hopes the superintendent will meet with him to discuss the issue further. - ➤ Hardin-Simmons University and other small colleges have begun using new name, image and likeness (NIL) deals to help student-athletes earn money, with AD John Neese saying most deals involve product trades or small cash payments.
