- ➤ Wreaths Across America is getting ready to honor about 3,100 veterans — placing wreaths on graves at the Texas State Veterans Cemetery. The event will be held Dec. 13 at 11:00 a.m. and shows local respect for those who served. KTXS
- ➤ Abilene’s Mockingbird Branch Library will close Oct. 31 after serving the community for over 15 years, and its services will move to new rec center locations in 2026. Some residents worry about losing the convenient spot for kids' programs as holds shift to the Main Library on Oct. 17 & returns go to the Main and South Branch Libraries starting Nov. 1. KTXS

- ➤ Texas Leadership Charter Academy is offering free breakfast and lunch for every student this school year through the USDA's Community Eligibility Provision — the program helps low-income families by ensuring kids have healthy meals to help them focus in class. Principal Stephanie Andrade said the meals boost learning by reducing hunger, and the school will continue the program to support its community. KTXS

- ➤ An Abilene resident said a cracked handicapped parking spot at the post office on Buffalo Gap Road may puncture tires and leave one spot unusable for drivers who need it, and city officials are now looking into repairs (the slab was repaired a few years ago but has since deteriorated). KTXS
