Boo at the Zoo started Saturday at Abilene Zoo featuring a petting zoo, hay-bale maze, costume contest, and vendor trick-or-treating stations—curator Robert Trejo said the event will run every weekend in October to bring more visitors and new attractions each year.

On Saturday, the Abilene Chamber's Hispanic Business Council held its 17th annual Business Mercado at the Convention Center.

The event featured live mariachis, authentic food, and business networking opportunities — it drew the largest crowd yet and chairwoman Aida Pantoja thanked Abilene for their support.
