  • Disability Resources Inc. reopened its pumpkin patch in Abilene after a six-year break from the COVID-19 pandemic—sponsored by Taylor Electric. The event runs Wednesday through Friday from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. until Halloween at 3602 N. Clack.  KTXS

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Abilene Christian University received a $1M grant from Lilly Endowment Inc. to expand its Graduate School of Theology’s Ministry Residency Program+ the grant will help graduate students connect with churches and experienced ministers for missional leadership, as interim dean Dr. Mason Lee said.  KTXS

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On day 16 of the government shutdown, many federal employees face uncertain pay which threatens food security in Abilene and West Central Texas—local food banks and partners are getting ready to help up to 55,000 people and 5,300 families at Dyess Air Force Base.  KTXS
