The Interfaith Council celebrated its 25th anniversary on Saturday afternoon at Storybook Garden West where residents gathered at the corner of Cedar+Sixth Street to enjoy cake, music, and dancing.

Council president Susannah Lubanga said the event helped people learn about different faiths and feel more united.

Downtown Abilene will host its annual Christmas Tree Lighting and Parade of Lights on Tuesday, December 2, with Abilene ISD musical groups performing at 5 p.m., Revolution Strings at 5:30 p.m., and Mayor Weldon Hurt lighting the tree at 6 p.m.—the parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. along North 1st, Walnut, North 6th, and Pine Streets while vendor applications open on Monday, October 20.

Protesters gathered in downtown Abilene on Saturday at 555 Walnut St. for the 'No Kings 2' rally, organized by Defend Democracy Abilene + Money Out of Politics Movement, to protest government overreach and political influence peacefully.
