- ➤ Hamby Activity Center (formerly Hamby Elementary School) is hosting a fundraiser today from 4 to 7 p.m. that features a fish fry and Pumpkin Fest to raise funds for essential building repairs and ongoing maintenance, as leasing fees cover only cleaning and electricity. KTXS

- ➤ Abilene Zoo will soon unveil a groundbreaking exhibit featuring a C-130 Hercules aircraft repurposed from Dyess Air Force Base — the only display of its kind at an AZA-accredited zoo that honors local military history and offers interactive learning experiences. FOX West Texas

- ➤ Hardin-Simmons University held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday to open a new building at 2241 Pine Street for its Speech-Language Pathology and Clinical Mental Health Counseling programs. School leaders said the new space gives more room for student training and community help — including support for learning, brain problems and mental health in rural schools. KTXS
- ➤ Abilene ISD is leasing a hallway at Ortiz Elementary to New Heights Learning Center to open a daycare on Nov. 3rd. The lease helps the district break even—employees receive a 10% discount and enrollment priority to meet a need identified two years ago. KTXS

- ➤ At the Abilene Convention Center’s Exhibition Hall, over 1,700 women played Bunco for Breast Cancer and raised $125,000 for The Hope Fund at Hendrick Health—supporting free mammograms and supplies for patients.
