Abilene Public Library is receiving a $10,000 gift from the Carnegie Corporation of New York as part of the Carnegie Libraries 250 Special Initiative that honors the upcoming 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence — the award recognizes the library’s historic link to a 1906 Carnegie grant that built its first branch.
