COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Abby Bryan and Landon Vaughn were honored Thursday for helping a family escape a burning home on Regent Drive last Monday—Landon entered the smoke-filled house while Abby alerted neighbors and called the fire department. The AISD School District Board and Abilene Fire Department recognized their brave actions in saving a family of five.  KTXS
  • Today at 9 a.m., the West Texas Rehab Center at 4601 Hartford St. in Abilene is hosting a Thanksgiving meal distribution where each vehicle is limited to one package with ham, stuffing, corn, green beans, and sweet potatoes. Corey and Winkie James said the event will continue until supplies run out—and they urged drivers to follow traffic cones and remain patient.  KTXS
  • People have lined up at Arrow Ford for the 26th Mission Thanksgiving to donate food and clothes to those in need—Love and Care Ministries runs the event and uses the donations for daily support services. Volunteers, many of whom have supported the tradition for years, say that giving back makes a big difference in the community.  KTXS

CULTURE NEWS

  • At the Mall of Abilene, Santa listened as local children shared their holiday wishes in a festive event before Christmas. Some kids asked for Bluey items and comic book toys while one even wished for a Lamborghini (showing the fun spirit of the season) as Santa reminded them to be good to stay off the naughty list.  KTXS
