- ➤ Biscuit Bar, on North Judge Ely Boulevard in Allen Ridge, closed on Monday, Dec. 15 due to rising costs and supply chain issues — affecting about 100 employees weeks ahead of the holidays. KTXS

- ➤ Jane Beard — a lawyer, philanthropist and longtime community leader — will receive an honorary Doctor of Laws from Hardin-Simmons University for her dedication to law and community service. Her award highlights a lifelong journey marked by hard work and personal triumph in Abilene. KTXS

- ➤ Dyess Air Force Base began construction on a $26.7 million fuels lab and refueler truck yard Monday morning as part of a $1.6 billion upgrade for the new B-21 Raider, with work set to finish by Oct. 2027 and expected to boost local employment. KTXS
