  • Ronnie C. Kidd, 67, a dedicated volunteer at the Food Bank of West Central Texas for over 30 years, died on March 20 in Abilene. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 26 at Hamil Family Funeral Home — funeral services will follow Friday, March 27 at Holy Family Catholic Church.  KTXS
  • The 27th Annual Champion for Children conference returns to Abilene (at the Doubletree Hilton in downtown) Thursday and Friday to kick off child abuse awareness month with breakout sessions and networking for local professionals. Attendees will share tools and strategies to help protect children.  KTXS
  • Families can join several Easter egg hunts and spring festivals this week and next in nearby communities, including Eastland on March 28 and additional events in Cisco, Colorado City and Merkel in early April – check local details for exact times and locations.  KTXS

  • On Feb. 25, Abilene beekeeper Victor Huff tended his hives while caring for healthy bees and fresh honeycomb at A-Bee-Lene Beekeepers. He said a dedicated beekeeper helps protect bees from pests and diseases, underscoring the value of his work.  Abilene Reporter News

  • Abilene was selected as one of three winning cities in the Star-Spangled Texas mural competition sponsored by Texas Monthly Studio and Arca Continental Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages.   • Kaitlyn Shaw turned a pandemic setback into opportunity by opening her TDLR-approved cosmetology school in Sept. 2023 at a former apartment building in Abilene — she has since licensed over 100 lash artists and graduated more than 200 students, inspiring local beauty hopefuls.  KTXS
