- ➤ Police responded Friday on Morgan St. in Tye after a train hit an 18-wheeler that high-centered on the tracks and pushed the truck 200 feet— the driver was not injured. KTXS
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Shackelford County officials approved a new data center on July 21 for a site at the intersection of Highway 604 and Highway 351 covering 1,200 acres—Vantage Data Centers will hold job fairs later this year and in 2026 as construction begins later this year and is expected to create 250 full-time jobs with up to 6,500 construction workers at its peak until 2029. - ➤ Texas officers increased highway patrols as part of Operation Slowdown to reduce deadly speeding crashes. Sgt. Marc Couch said more patrol cars on the road help drivers slow down — and the initiative runs until Sunday. KTXS
- ➤ Construction is progressing at Abilene's new Fire Station 9 on the growing south side to boost emergency response. The station—set to be completed by November—will move Station 6’s crew and add extra living quarters and equipment. KTXS
